I had to start another book by Thorsson to be able to review Futhark. I’ve based my rating on Futhark as a standalone read. If you are looking for a simple, straightforward “how to,” on using Runes in magical practice, this isn’t the place to look. I see Futhark as an information dense introduction to Runes and Runelore. Thorsson is the founder of the Runeguild and a leading academic expert on Runes. This work briefly reviews the history of the Runes and Runic scholarship, provides introductory exoteric and esoteric explanations of the Runes, and offers a glimpse into a contemporary understanding of traditional Rune Galdr based on the academic and metaphysical pursuits of Thorrson and others. I find it to be an interesting amalgam of academic explanation and veiled presentation of mysteries to be pursued if the reader wishes to walk the Odian path. If you are serious about learning …
